Finding pieces a new home

One of the first things I wanted to do was wash this wall handing Mom did and find it a spot in my crafts room. I washed it in the kitchen sink with some detergent for delicates. It took quite a while for the water to run clear but I did it.

After towelling dry, I hung it up to dry in my crafts room on the door handle.

Then I really started to like it being there. It was like an invitation to come in so I am thinking of leaving it there.

All those years and I had no idea Mom made this herself. I used to love this image of a princess in her carriage, I would admire it all the time. I am glad I found this treasure Mom made a home.

How wonderful! I love the whole journey from when you admired the princess as a girl to finding it a welcoming home now. I'm so delighted you took this piece.

And I love the idea of sharing the home we found for things. You're inspiring me!

It's true Jamie, this piece has really been with me for as long as I can remember. I can't wait to see what you share here too. I loved seeing the fisherman at your place Shannon when we Skyped! Yes, it just seems to want to hang out at the front of my crafts room, so funny how that happened.

That's a beautiful piece and it somehow suits you just right. I love things that hold memories and that looks and sounds like a memory piece.

Thank you Judith! Me too and yes, it really is one of those pieces that takes me right back to being a kid at home with my family.

I love too that this reminds me that Mom did quite a bit of crewel work and got me excited about it as well. I really loved doing it for quite a time in my life.
